Written by those responsible for, among others, Half a Sixpence, Hello Dolly! And Mack and Mabel, this is a forgotten British musical that deserves to be remembered. Secure in its Edwardian period and over-brimming with eccentricity The Amazons tells the story of three attractive young women brought up by their misguided mother as three young men. When romance rears its head, the complications soon ensue. The show was based on a comedy by Arthur Wing Pinero, and almost reached the West End stage in 1971, but closed en route. In 2002 the musical was revived for London, and this is the production which we recorded, in excellent studio sound. As the music dies away, you will doubtless find yourself in agreement with the Bishop of Karachi, that ‘There’s nothing wrong with England’

With:     Elizabeth Counsell, Myra Sands, Lucy Montgomery
